About Us

La Mandarine is home to a wonderful collection of resortwear for women and men designed to make you look and feel fabulous in the sun. This year, following so many customer demands, we have also introduced nightwear and homewares - under the banner of Mandarine Maison. Here you can find pretty hand block printed cotton nightwear and table linens as well as a selection of the beautiful cashmere and wool throw and blankets that I source in Jaipur. We hope to expand these ranges in 2023.

La Mandarine's hand embroidered and hand block printed beach dresses, kaftans, cover ups and sarongs are designed in the North of Ireland and hand made in India. The traditional Indian techniques of hand block printing and hand embroidery help to make our garments unique.

We aim to hit the spot between the over-exposed or bland high street offer and expensive designer beachwear. Our clients are women who want that effortless, cool-girl beach chic look, yet who don't want to be surrounded by others wearing the same thing. She values originality and authenticity. She wants a few key pieces to see her through a holiday that will work double duty on the beach, by the pool or in the evening. Wearing a new, ethically produced, under-the-radar label always garners fashion brownie points too. We believe that great fabrics, many hand-loomed or hand printed, and simple shapes can be easily accessorised to create an effortlessly elevated look.

We sell online all year round and to a growing number of the most glamorous and prestigious beach boutiques, including the iconic Club 55 Boutique on Pampelonne beach in St Tropez and the gorgeous Coral Reef Club in Barbados.

I created the brand in 2013 after spending 15 years of long summers in the South of France. There I discovered lots of below-the-radar boho chic brands in the beach boutiques of St Tropez. Many of these garments are produced in India where there is a strong tradition of handmade textile production, specialist embroidery and block printing skills.

On discovering India's rich textile heritage and meeting many of the artisans in Jaipur, l was keen to utilise, and in turn help preserve, these skills in the production of my collections. So began the journey that led to the creation of La Mandarine. The brand is now sold in many of those same French beach boutiques, and many others like them in Europe, the US and beyond, and of course all year round on this website and our E-commerce partners including SilkFred and ETSY.

Knowing where our clothes and homewares come from is important to us and we work with carefully chosen individuals and small organisations rather than large corporations to produce the La Mandarine range. I personally vet the companies we work with to make sure that our production partners adhere to ethical employment practices.

We hope you enjoy shopping at La Mandarine.
